Phoenix Rising
enRoute, September 2011
In June of 2011, I was commissioned by enRoute magazine and sent to shoot a long-travel feature about modernist architecture in the desert city of Phoenix, Arizona.
Little did I know, but I was soon battling 117 degree heat, a constant and merciless sun, rattle snakes and any number of different varieties of cacti to expose my film to that city and it's surrounding desert's glorious light.
It was an amazing trip and I got to visit and shoot some serious architecture, like Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West or Al Beadle's Case Study Apt. #1, and meet with a an engaging, hospitable and thriving community of architecturally-minded people.
